Add Model to Order not Setup

In the Whirlwind system it is easy to add model numbers that are not currently in the database to a Customer Order or a Vendor Purchase Order. When you come to the screen 'Select a Model Number' and you type a model number say 'ARM3050WW' the screen will appear as below. Simply take your mouse and click on the Green button that states 'Model Number 'ARM3050WW' is not currently Setup.' and this model number will be added to your order. You will then be asked for a description of the model number. It is suggested that in the description you enter the vendor name, and the product type (i.e. Dishwasher, Refrigerator, etc) and the color. Not only does this help the customer to know what they have purchased but also the purchasing department to know what it is that you would like for this customer.

The model does not need to be setup until the Purchase Order is ready to be posted. Therefore you can add it to a customer order, request the model number, add it to a purchase order, scan it with the scanners, and the serial number to the purchase order by way of the scan organizer. The next step is to post the model/serial number to inventory. Therefore we now need to know General ledger numbers and what not so we do need a setup card at this time.
